“Fresh cream” and “buttercream” are two very different cake finishes.

Neither one is automatically better. The right choice depends on whether you care more about taste, sweetness, design or stability.

1. Taste and sweetness

Fresh cream is usually lighter, milkier and less sweet. It is a good choice for customers who prefer a clean, soft finish.

Buttercream is denser, richer and usually sweeter. It suits people who enjoy a more indulgent texture or classic piped decorations.

2. Which one works better for detailed designs?

Buttercream generally holds its shape better, making it suitable for:

  • detailed piping
  • borders and textures
  • more structured decorations
  • designs that need stronger shape retention

Fresh cream is lighter to eat, but it is more delicate when it comes to complex decoration.

3. What about Manila’s weather?

In Manila’s hot and humid climate, both types of cake should be protected from heat and direct sunlight.

Fresh cream cakes need refrigeration and soften more quickly once they warm up.

Buttercream is usually more stable, but we still recommend keeping the cake cool and limiting long periods at room temperature.

4. Which should you choose?

For family birthdays, indoor celebrations and a lighter taste, fresh cream is usually the easier choice.

For detailed themed cakes and more structured decoration, buttercream may be more practical.
